Honey Bee's, Bears and Hives!

Making bee hives is all the rage right now for home décor. Of course I jumped on the band wagon. I went to Dollar Tree and bought the nautical rope and flower pot. There is many videos out there showing how to make the hive on YouTube. I got the bees from amazon and the flower buttons from Michaels. I decided the hive needed a bear and I knew where one was at sitting at in my craft room. I sat them on my shelf and then decided since spring is coming, they needed to be among flowers. I went back to Dollar Tree and got the planter and some faux flowers. I arranged the flowers around the hive and bear. I love how it turned out!

Here they are all together. I added some jewels to the planter and ribbon. The ribbon I got from amazon. The plaid fabric I had on hand.

I knew I had the Baby Bear stamp set and decided to make a card to fit in the theme.
.
This bear has his own hive also, isn't he adorable?

Honey Bee Home Decor

Even though the Golden Honey DSP sold out, you can still buy the stamp set and dies. Today I was looking for my coaster to sit my drink on and then it hit me. Why not make some Honey Bee coasters. I went through my stash and nope, nada, no more coasters. I went to amazon and found some coasters and ordered them, when they arrived I began to gather my supplies to create my coasters and I also decided to make a keychain from some wooden ornaments I had left over. I used Stazon Black Ink and of course the Honey Bee stamp set. I chose to use the large bee and the sentiment "CELEBRATE every moment."  We should always celebrate each and every day, when we make our life happy we are blessed with goodness.

Look at how detailed the wings of the honey bee are on the cork coaster. Lovely~

How about a keychain to match?

The other side stamped with the sentiment.

How cute are these? They would make great gift for a friends birthday or for a new house warming gift or just to CELEBRATE every moment. Below is the link for all items I used to create these. Come back soon for more exciting Honey Bee items that I am currently working on.

Honeycomb Celebrate Card

This next card I created using the retired hexagon punch to make the honeycomb for this card. I again used Crushed Curry and Basic Black along with the Golden Honey DSP.

I randomly stamped my images of the bees again. I then punched out seven black hexagons and then five of the DSP. I stamped a bee and the sentiment and punched them out also. I glued down the black pieces and popped up the DSP with dimensionals and offset them off the black pieces. The bee and sentiment I glued one at the top and one towards the bottom.

Spring is coming and so is the butterflies and the bees!!!

Honey is a very valuable asset to society. Honey bees are needed to produce this sweet nectar. A lot of people use honey for teas, coughs, as scrubs and so much more. Did you know one hive can produce 20 to 60 pounds of honey in an average year? Bees need plants to produce honey and plants need bees to pollinate them. Bees are the most powerful pollinators of the world and this makes them crucial for the quality of our life. You have probably heard through the news that some bees are on the endangered species list and that we all need to do our part to help the bees.
Here are some facts about honey bees:
  1.  They pollinate a third of our food.
  2.  Bees can help fight cancer.
  3.  Bees can predict storms.
  4.  It is the only insect that produces food eaten by man.
  5.  Honey is the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and water; and it's the only food that contains "pinocembrin", an antioxidant associated with improved brain functioning.
  6. The worker bees produce honeycomb which comprises hexagon shaped cells through the consumption of honey produced from the collected flower nectar. To produce one pound of beeswax, six to eight pounds of honey are ingested.
Do you like or love honey? My favorite is Ginger infused honey, we have a local bee keeper,
who makes and sells his honey, sells bees and so much more.

I hope you enjoyed learning about honey bees, so now on to my first project and it is all about the Bees!

I was looking on line at some quilts and came across this picture of this quilt piece, and the more I looked at it the more it looked like the Tailored Tag punch. So I created a card using the punch.

Here is my bee-utiful card, what do you think of it? Did you know bees have 5 eyes? Two are on the side and three on top of the head. Do you see why I have the three rhinestones? Clever izzz I!

I used the Sale-A-bration Golden Honey Specialty DSP, Crushed Curry and Black CS, Memento Black ink, Honey Bee stamp set, Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the Truly Tailored Punch.

Card instructions:

Cut down the Crushed Curry CS to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2  and score at 4 1/4. Stamp the bees all over the front panel and add Hello in the top left corner. Take the tailored punch and punch a black piece of CS, a piece of the gold and black and two of the black and white. Line up the edges of the black and white pieces to the gold and black piece. Tape them down, position them on the black piece and glue down, add the rhinestones to the top of the head and then cut two strips for the antenna's. Now add dimensionals to the piece and place in the center of the card front. Add more rhinestones to the card front.
